Paper Plus handles personal information in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We understand the importance of the fair and lawful collection and processing of personal data and fully adhere to the principles set out in the Regulation.
Paper Plus’ role in data collection and processing
Under the GDPR, Paper Plus is classified as both the ‘data controller’ (the body responsible for determining the purpose and means of processing personal data) and the ‘data processor’ (the body responsible for processing personal data).

This notice refers to the collection and handling of personal data – namely information that could be used to identify an individual, such as name, email address and postal address.
What information do we collect and why?
Paper Plus collects information about its customers, potential customers and other interested parties for a number of reasons. This could refer to both individuals and organisations. Primarily we collect non-sensitive personal data such as names, email addresses, telephone numbers company names and job roles in order to:
- Circulate marketing emails and communications such as product promotions and offers, competitions and other relevant content relating to the education sector
- Contact potential customers to discuss sales opportunities
- Send documentation relating to a purchases made via our website or in-house team
- Send emails to customers to gather feedback on our products and services to make improvements
Processing information fairly
Paper Plus only processes information when:
- We have been given consent to do so. This consent will be given in the form of a positive ‘opt in’ from the data subject
- Where we have a legitimate interest to do so. For example when emailing an invoice or order confirmation
Ensuring your personal data is safe and accurate
We ensure that your data is kept safely on our systems and have put measures in place to help guard against any accidental loss, destruction or damage of personal data.
We only collect and record data about individuals that is necessary for us to perform our marketing activity and nothing more. As our information is collected from the individuals directly, we assume that this is correct at the time of collection and offer provision for our data subjects to update their details at any time if the information held becomes inaccurate (see below ‘Rights of the Data Subject’).
Retaining Information
We will hold data on individuals who have subscribed to our marketing publications until we are directed otherwise by the Data Subject (customer or potential customer). A link will be provided in each email we send, giving our subscribers the option to unsubscribe. Once an unsubscribe request has been received, the Data Subjects details will remain on our system for 30 days to allow us to run analytics or reporting. After this time, the Data Subject’s details will be deleted completely from our database.

The Right to Erasure
When you unsubscribe from our marketing emails using the link provided in our footers, we will no longer send you emails. However your record will remain in our database for 30 days. This allows us to generate reports on why an unsubscribe has occurred, to help us to get our communications right for other subscribers. After this time, your record will be completely deleted from our system.

The Right to Data Portability
Under the GDPR, you have the right to request a copy of the data we hold, in order to share this with other companies or organisations. You can request a copy of your data by calling our team on 01444 238050 or email us at hello@paperplusuk.com.
The Right to Restrict Processing
In certain circumstances, you have the right to block or pause the processing of your data, but still retain your record on our database. For example if you believe the data we hold about you is incorrect, you may not wish to hear from us until the inaccuracy is rectified.

The Right to Object
You have the right to object to our processing of your data at any time. This can be achieved by contacting us or unsubscribing from our newsletters, using the links provided in our emails. However, in certain circumstances when we are processing your data with legitimate interest or to perform a vital task, such as sending invoices or order confirmations, this may not be possible.
